Ok being at the airport in question when Air Force One and the President of the US was there and carrying a gun might be perceived as being a little un-wise, but it was not a gun being waived that caused the guy to be arrested. They only found the gun which he had a permit for as a concealed weapon when we was arrested. The thing that caused the guy to be hauled over was his amateur radio number plates,camera and aerials. Could this happen in the UK?

Ok, put the gun aside, we are not allowed to carry such things, but cameras yes, radio equipment yes. These post 9/11 and &/& days the taking of photos now especially in towns and cities causes ‘involvements’ from, security, police and the general public. My cameras now stays at home, but it seems to be acceptable to use your camera phone???

Radio equipment, well that’s another story….

I have had words with a construction worker in Birmingham, England, who can confirm, that at the depth of 50 feet there is no sign of copper wires, therefore the UK must have gone wireless 200 years before the US of A! Anyone better this re-discovery of technology?

If you are using Vista and have a run code error 75. Run ROS for the first time in administrator mode. Easily done, just right click on the setup programme say yes to everything. The next time you will just need to left click as normal.

So there you have it ROS is OK above 222MHz. Seems to be a non US mode. Any other countries it’s not permitted in I wonder… Everybody dives off to read their Licensing Regulations… Now where are they???

Currently there is a problem if you are using Vista, an error code 75 comes up when you attempt to run the program. An update is on the way and indeed the source code for a Linux version is also on the way too. So if you run Vista and find it does not run OK refer back to http://rosmodem.wordpress.com for info and the fix when available.

Simple fix – Right click on icon, click on run as administrator. ROS will then run OK and the next time just left click as normal….

150 Million AM/FM sets are an awful lot to send to landfill. With so many houses with Internet Radio, SKY or cable, radio stations are easily received in the home. DAB car radios are not so common and nearly non-existent as a standard fit i.e. in the console and working off the cars remote controls. In fact if the 2015 changeover date had been agreed, a five year old car would not have a working radio a year on. Not a great sales benefit to advertise…

Help out in an emergency.. I used to help out, all I got was no thanks, a scratched and dented car and the XYL got a potted plant for my troubles..

Hey, this suprizes me not. The good old RSGB has been publishing this info for years in either a callbook, on Disc or a yearbook and now they say that this information is a breach of security as the owners of the data (Ofcom) have released it to the public and non-amateurs might get hold of it… Hey a book can be purchased by a non-amateur from the RSGB without any checks of security on who buys it… What is the difference in buying a book from the RSGB and getting it free from a website… MMMmmmm AHA!!! the RSGB don’t get any money if the info is taken off the website, otherwise no difference. Is this revenue protection? AR Pse KKK
