To commemorate their 50th anniversary, the Verulam Amateur Radio Club ran a successful special event station GB50VE during June 9/10th 2011 to demonstrate the hobby to school pupils Read the Full Article from the SARC The Clube Radioamadores do Entroncamento, with special call CS2CS, will be active on 11th June 2011 from Sertã Castel (WCA reference CT-0168, DCFP reference C-168, DMHP reference CB-019 and DMP reference 0509 for the Portuguese Castles Award). Operation will be on HF- SSB/ CW and DIGITAL. Sertã Castel is located in the Province of Castelo [...] All are welcome to participate in the 3rd annual “13 Colonies” special event, July 1st-5th, 2011. There will be new start and finish times this year. Because the 5th of July falls on a Tuesday, and is a work day for many, we will start the event early Friday morning July 1st at 12:01 Eastern [...] Special call for 30 years anniversary of spaceflight (14-22nd may 1981) of DUMITRU PRUNARIU, the first Romanian cosmonaut. QSL via YO8AXP, direct (qry.com). GB4FPR will be on the airwaves for Marconi Day on 30th April 2011. In addition to the normal amateur frequencies they will also be transmitting on 502 to 503kHz CW, replying on the same frequencies to suitably equipped stations and crossband to 3570 or 7030kHz for non suitably equipped stations. Signal reports are welcomed. QSLs [...] Sands Contest Group are running four special event station, weather permitting, to celebrate the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. They will be on air between 10am and 5pm on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May 2011. QSL via EQSL only. Moray Firth Amateur Radio Society are celebrating the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival with three Special Event stations. GB3SWF will be located at Strathisla distillery. GB2SWF will be at the Craigellachie Distillery. GB4SWF will be at Cragganmore Distillery. A commemorative QSL card will be sent to all stations that contact the club during the weekend. Tamworth Amateur Radio Society will be operating on HF and 2m with GB1WK on Friday 29th April 2011 starting at 2pm hours to celebrate the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. Next Saturday and Sunday (April 9-10th) there will be a special event to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
